UPDATE: The Crown & Punchbowl will be closed in January & February 2016 for a major refurbishment. We reopen at the end of February and look forward to welcoming you then! Please note we are still taking advance room and restaurant bookings for the end of February onwards.
CambsCuisine is a group of six restaurants and an event dining operation in Cambridgeshire. We are delighted that the Crown & Punchbowl has once again become part of the CambsCuisine group. We have a large refurbishment scheduled for January and February 2016, reopening at the end of February 2016.
Firstly we will be restoring the exterior and opening the front door as an entrance. There will be outside seating to the front of the building and a complete refurbishment of the pub and restaurant as well as the rooms upstairs. The kitchen will get a complete makeover and we are adding a conservatory over the present outside seating area to the rear. We aim to make the place more convivial and to encourage people to come in for just a drink by making the bar area bigger, more appealing and serving real ales straight from the cask. The work will be undertaken in January – February 2016 and we will be adding four further rooms in January 2017.
We are very excited about breathing new life into the place and relaunching its next phase!
The Crown & Punchbowl is a quaint country pub and inn on the outskirts of Cambridge. Adjacent to the church of St. Peter, whose chancel dates back to around 1220, The Crown & Punchbowl was originally an old coaching inn constructed at some point in the 17th century, but not officially recorded until 1764.
The building, which has been extended periodically, retains many of its original features and nestles amongst surrounding farmhouses. Inside a series of brick fireplaces and original beams spread throughout the building adding to its rustic charm.
